I believe that it is the responsibility of those we elect as our representatives, not to tax our future by running up debt. The federal government is currently spending more money than it is taking in. It has been doing this for some time, and at fast enough rate that our debt is now over 100% of GPD. This is a tax, a tax that is easier to hide than the ones we see coming out of our pay checks, but it is a real tax and it is a big tax. In order to spend money that we do not have in the treasury the Federal Reserve prints more US dollars. This printing of new money dilutes the total supply, thus devaluing the money in our pockets as it comes into circulation. This is why you can not buy a gallon of gas for a dime anymore, and this is why things will cost more in the future, much more.
