In order to spend money that we do not have in the treasury the Federal Reserve prints more US dollars. This printing of new money dilutes the total supply, thus devaluing the money in our pockets as it comes into circulation. This is why you can not buy a gallon of gas for a dime anymore, and this is why things will cost more in the future, much more.
